Ideal Weight Calculator

About Ideal Weight Calculator

Why so many formulas?

Each was developed for clinical use — Devine for drug dosing, Hamwi for diabetes management. They give similar but not identical answers; averaging them is reasonable for non-clinical curiosity.

These formulas ignore frame

They don’t account for body composition or frame size. A muscular person may exceed all four estimates while being lean. A small-framed person may sit below them. Use as a rough reference range.

Better alternatives

For health context, BMI 18.5-25 is a wider population reference. For athletes, body-fat percentage and waist circumference are more meaningful than weight alone.
