How to use this calculator
1. Type an amount
Enter the amount you want to convert. The result updates as you type.
2. Pick from and to currencies
Choose source and destination from 20 major currencies. The swap button flips them in one click.
3. Read the rate
You see the converted amount plus the exchange rate and its inverse — useful when comparing what something costs from each side.
Tips for travel money
The rates shown are mid-market reference values. Banks and exchange counters add a spread (typically 1-5%) plus possible fees. To minimize cost: use a credit card with no foreign-transaction fee for purchases, and an ATM card from a bank that reimburses ATM fees for cash.
About this converter
Are these rates live?
Not yet. We use a fixed reference table while building. Live rates from a public FX API are on the roadmap. For now, double-check with your bank before converting real money.
How does the conversion math work?
We store every rate against USD. Converting A → B uses: amount × (USD/A) × (B/USD) — algebraically equivalent to dividing by A's USD rate and multiplying by B's.
Why does my bank give me a worse rate?
Banks add a spread and may charge a fee. The "mid-market" rate you see here is typically better than what's offered at retail conversion windows.
