How to use this calculator
1. Pick a mode
Choose Reimbursement to turn miles into dollars at a per-mile rate, or Trip fuel cost to estimate what the gas for a journey will cost.
2. Reimbursement inputs
Enter the miles driven and the per-mile rate. The default rate matches the 2025 IRS business figure, but you can type any rate your employer or tax year uses.
3. Trip fuel cost inputs

About mileage and rates
How is reimbursement calculated?
Reimbursement = miles ร rate. At $0.70 per mile, 100 business miles is $70.00. Some employers use the IRS standard rate; others set their own. Keep a log of dates, distances, and purpose for any claim.
How is trip fuel cost calculated?
Gallons = distance รท MPG, then cost = gallons ร price per gallon. Better fuel economy and a lower pump price both cut the total, which is why MPG matters on long trips.
Does the IRS rate change?
Yes โ the IRS sets the standard mileage rate at least once a year, with separate rates for business, medical or moving, and charity driving. Use the editable rate field to match the current year.
