GPA Calculator
Enter your courses, grades, and credit hours to compute your unweighted or weighted GPA on the standard 4.0 scale. Add or remove courses as you go.
Grading scale
Standard 4.0 scale: A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0.0.

How to use this calculator
1. Pick weighted or unweighted
Unweighted (4.0 max) treats every class equally. Weighted adds bonus points for honors and AP/IB classes โ common in US high school transcripts.
2. Add each course
Click "+ Add course" for each class. Course name is optional. Pick the letter grade. Enter credit hours (1 for one-semester high school, 3-4 for typical college classes).
3. (Weighted only) Set level
For weighted mode, set each course's level: regular (no bonus), honors (+0.5), or AP/IB (+1.0). These are the most common conventions, though schools vary.
4. Read your GPA
The main number is your overall GPA, weighted by credits. The grid below shows total quality points, credits attempted, and number of courses counted.
About GPA
The formula
GPA = ฮฃ(grade ร credits) / ฮฃ(credits). Each letter grade maps to a quality point (A=4.0, A-=3.7, etc.), multiplied by the course's credit hours. Sum across all courses, then divide by total credits.
Weighted vs. unweighted
Colleges typically recalculate to their own standard scale, but most US high schools report weighted GPAs (sometimes on a 5.0 max) on transcripts to recognize harder coursework. Reporting both โ like 3.85 unweighted / 4.12 weighted โ is common.
Pass/Fail and W
Pass/Fail courses usually don't affect GPA (no quality points awarded). A "W" (withdrawal) doesn't either. Skip those rows or omit them.
