Paint when you are free
Drag across the grid to paint or erase a block of time. Tap a day header to take the whole day, or a time label to take that time on every day. The faint shading behind an empty cell is how many other people are already free there.
How to run the poll
1. Block out the candidate window
Add the days you would actually consider — a working week, three evenings, one weekend — then set the earliest and latest time worth offering. Keep the window honest: a grid that runs 8am to 10pm collects a lot of polite ticks in slots nobody really wants.
2. Answer it yourself first
Type your name and paint your own availability before you send the link. A poll that arrives with one response already in it gets answered far more often than an empty grid, and it shows the group what "painting" means.
3. Send one link, not a thread
Press Save & copy share link and post that single URL. Everyone edits the same poll: they open it, add their name, paint, and save. Each save folds their answer into the shared copy, so the heatmap the next person sees already contains everyone before them.
4. Read the heatmap, then decide
The darkest cells are the fullest. The ranked list underneath turns those cells into real blocks of time and names exactly who is missing from each one — often the fix is not a different slot but a quick word with the one person who cannot make the obvious winner.
Group availability FAQs
How does everyone add their availability?
They open your link, type their name, and drag across the grid. Dragging from an empty cell paints; dragging from a filled one erases, so a mis-drag is undone the same way it was made. On a phone the same drag works — the grid deliberately does not scroll under your finger while you paint, so scroll the page from outside the grid.
Does the grid handle time zones?
No, and that is on purpose. Every slot is a plain wall-clock time shown identically to everyone; nothing is converted behind your back. Silent conversion is how these tools usually go wrong. If the group spans zones, put the reference zone in the timezone note and it rides along in the link.
What happens if two people save at the same time?
Last write wins. Saving pushes your browser's whole copy of the poll into the shared link, so a response saved by someone else after you loaded the page is replaced. Nothing warns you, because your browser has no way to know. Reopening the link immediately before saving is enough to avoid it in practice.
Can I answer on someone else's behalf?
Yes. Click any name in the participant chips to load that person's response and edit it, or just type a new name to start a fresh one. It is designed for the case where you are on a call and filling in for the person who never opens links.
Where is the poll stored?
The working copy stays in your own browser, and it is remembered between visits unless you opened the page from someone else's link — in that case your own saved poll is left untouched. Only pressing Save writes the poll to our server behind an unguessable key. Anonymous links last 30 days, or 2 years when you are signed in. Names are the only personal detail the poll carries.
