How to use this calculator
1. Enter the appliance power
Find the wattage on the device label or its manual. Toggle between watts and kilowatts โ 1000 W equals 1 kW.
2. Estimate daily hours
Enter how many hours per day the appliance actually runs. For things that cycle on and off, like a fridge, use an average effective runtime.
3. Add your price per kWh
Use the rate from your electricity bill. The default $0.15 is a rough average; your real rate may be higher or lower depending on where you live and your plan.
4. Read the breakdown
The big number is the yearly cost. The cards show daily, monthly, and yearly energy in kWh. Months use 30.44 days and years use 365 days for accuracy.

The formula
Energy per day in kWh equals power in kW times hours per day. Multiply by the price per kWh for the daily cost, then scale up: monthly uses 30.44 days and yearly uses 365 days.
Phantom load
Many devices keep drawing a few watts while "off" โ a phenomenon called phantom or standby load. Smart speakers, chargers, and entertainment gear add up; switching them off at the wall or using a power strip trims waste.
Tips to save
