10% for rectangular rooms with straight installs. 15% if you’re running planks at 45° offset to the wall. 20% for diagonal patterns, herringbone, or irregularly shaped rooms with multiple cuts.
Keep extras
Save 1-2 unopened boxes from the same dye lot for future repairs. Floor manufacturers often discontinue or change colors year over year — matching exactly later can be impossible.
What this excludes
Underlayment, transition strips, baseboards, quarter-round trim, adhesive (for glue-down installs). Add 10-25% to the material cost for these. Labor for professional install is typically $3-8/sq ft on top of materials.
