About Volume Calculator
Units consistency
Use the same unit for all dimensions. If all are inches, volume is cubic inches and conversions show gallons/liters. If all are centimeters, volume is cm³ = milliliters.
Why (1/3) for cone & pyramid
A pyramid or cone has 1/3 the volume of a prism with the same base and height. This is a calculus result — true for any shape that tapers linearly to a point.
Sphere formula
V = (4/3)πr³ comes from integrating disk areas along the axis. The surface area is exactly 1/r times the volume formula derivative — 4πr².
