When to use a decision matrix
Multi-factor decisions with 3+ options. Especially useful when emotions pull strongly in one direction — the structure forces an honest comparison.
Pick weights first
Decide criterion weights BEFORE scoring options. Otherwise you’ll subconsciously adjust weights to match the answer you want.
Watch for close calls
